Hull

A hull is the watertight body of a ship or sailboat that provides buoyancy, housing for the crew, and structural support for rigging and machinery. In nautical terminology, a vessel’s hull must be distinguished from homonyms such as the outer husk of a seed or the verb meaning to remove husks.
